Align With The Earth's Rhythms To Find Complete Balance This Autumn

If winter is slumber and spring is birth, and summer is life, then autumn rounds out to be reflection.
— Mitchell Burgess

Namaste Yogis,

September races in, pushing us to a starting line. We launch into new commitments and rededicate ourselves to routine. But even as we rush, autumn also insists we pause and contemplate.

For me, September has always felt profound in this way, offering both a time for change and reconnection; good-bye and hello; transition and transformation. It is the ultimate time to pause. In fact, nature uses a big pause right now - between the expansion of summer and contraction of winter, she provides us with a moment of balance – the Autumn Equinox.

This is literally what the Equinox is – complete balance – when the sun will cross the equator and day and night will be equal in length. It is a moment of pause as we exhale into the ebb and flow between light and dark. This is an ideal time to slide into relaxation and stillness; where we can fortify our inner resources, which boosts our immune system, like a tree pulling in sap. This essential pause will allow us to to nourish our roots, so that we don’t deplete ourselves blasting into new fall agendas.

Nature often holds up a mirror so we can see more clearly the ongoing processes of growth, renewal, and transformation in our lives.

As yoga teaches, we are part of nature. We are nature. And as we move mindfully through the season, we can connect more deeply to ourselves and harmonize with the energy around us.

This issue of Yogalicious and each blog this month is filled with ideas to help you align with the earth’s rhythm, savor the opportunity to pause, and to create space for both reflection and nourishing new beginnings.

For some extra support during this transitional season (and any time of change) - I have teamed up with Kripalu and created special four-part mini-series: Yoga and Mindfulness To Move You Through Transition and Change.

Sign up for this FREE video series and you will receive four 4-minute practices over the next few weeks to help you move through this season with grace and wellbeing.

And if you are looking for integrating and sustaining the benefits of your yoga practice in to your daily life - come join me for a very unique Retreat.  My new Blended program begins in the Magnificent Fall Foliage of the Berkshire Mountains at Kripalu October 4th to 7th and then continues in your home online for five more weeks, with weekly video programming, group phone calls and online discussion forums. This is the ULTIMATE way to learn to pause, relax, and get grounded regularly... and conveniently, the program brings you right into the holidays - calm, clear and centered.

With gratitude,
Jillian
