Move more gracefully through transition and change

Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.
— John C. Maxwell

While we may be enjoying these last rays of summer, autumn will soon sweep in, insisting it is time to move on. Fall is a masterful teacher of change and transition.

Change, self-initiated or not, moves us through a transition zone which often creates a sense of groundlessness. It can be unsettling, even scary, to be in this in between state of letting go of what we've 'known' to allow for something new to emerge. However challenging change may be, resisting necessary growth for too long, will eventually break you down, make you sick, or if lucky, just force you forward ungracefully. It is simply healthier, on so many levels, to go forward with the flow rather than inhibit it.

Whether caused by a new season, leaving a job, moving homes, a shifting relationship, or simply aging - the only thing we know for sure - is that change is the norm.

In fact, according to yoga and Ayruveda our well-being is dependent on our ability to change. Everything is truly in a constant state of change... and anything that is fixed, stays the same - will eventually loose its health and vitality. Our very survival is based on our ability to continually evolve.

Flowing through this groundless state - takes skill, dedication, and courage. Yoga and meditation offer us many tools and techniques to help us through, and even embrace, change. We can learn to ground ourselves when we feel uprooted, and be more fluid when we feel to rigid.

So whether your creating your own change or not, I've partnered with Kripalu and created a 4 part mini-series of short techniques to help you stay grounded while you flow forward. These are very simple, tools, that can be done in just a few minutes, several times a day.

Sign up here and you will receive four 4 minute videos including:

  • a mindfulness technique,
  • a short meditation,
  • breathing awareness; and,
  • a short yoga flow

May you enjoy these short practices throughout the entire Autumn season, and any other time you find yourself navigating change this year.

With love,

Jillian

Without change there is no innovation, creativity, or incentive for improvement. Those who initiate change will have a better opportunity to manage the change that is inevitable.
