May we all remember that we can choose to return to our body and breath any time, anywhere.

Here in New Jersey, we are in week 8 of the "Stay At Home" order.
I admit, I have had "good'' days and "bad" days.
Good hours and bad hours.
Good minutes and... you get it.

In other words, I've had many opportunities to remember to return to my practice. Many opportunities to (remember that I can) choose to begin again in any moment; to return my attention to my breath, feel my feet on the ground, and re-relax my jaw, shoulders, belly.

Remembering to return to my practice has certainly been my saving grace through these weeks. But here is the thing; while the remembering to return has been essential (and the first step), it is the choosing to actually practice (even if only for one breath) that creates the eventual positive shift.

Viktor Frankl wrote, "What is to give light must endure burning. Everything can be taken from a man or a woman but one thing: the last of human freedoms to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way."

The bottom line is: the more we practice on the mat, the more our practice is there for us in the challenging moments of our lives. Ultimately, our time on the yoga mat is the 'pre-game'. Our real practice begins, when we step off our mat.

I hope you will join me this week in my Livestream classes to take some time to move, breathe, release tension, and nourish your wellbeing... to up the odds that you'll choose to practice when you need it most.

Lastly, I'm looking forward going deeper with you in these two Special Event Offerings next week:  A Supple Psoas Practice  (perfect to help unwind our tension right now!) and Teaching Training workshop: Restorative Yoga with Minimal Props (space limited).

May we all remember that we can choose to return to our body and breath any time, anywhere.

A Supple Psoas Series To Feel More Calm, Centered, and Spacious. Thursday, May 14. 7:00-8:30 pm.
You'll need a mat, two blocks, and two yoga blankets or pillows.
Price: $30
The psoas is a core muscle that lives deep within your body. Known as the “stress muscle,” a tight psoas can contribute to irritability, restrict your breathing, and cause pain in your low back, hips, and even digestive system. When in a more malleable state, this muscle can leave you feeling grounded yet buoyant and spacious. And, when free from unnecessary tension and congestion, the psoas is also known as the love muscle. In this 90-minute class, we’ll explore how the psoas relates to stress, digestion, breathing, and posture. Then we’ll flow through a supple psoas sequence that weaves together mindful slow yoga, restoratives, and deep rest. Register Now.

Minimal Props Restorative Yoga Teacher Training Workshop. Friday, May 15th, 1:00-4:30pm EDT.
CECs, 5 Contact Hours with Yoga Alliance.
Price: $150 (includes 5/14 Workshop).
This workshop is great for those who want to enhance their current approach to Restorative Yoga, begin to incorporate restoratives into their flow yoga classes, meditation classes, develop a deeper personal practice, or integrate restoratives with another therapeutic modality. Training begins with the 90-minute Supple Psoas Series on 5/14. Learn more & register.
